Congratulations Val & Andy! (part 3 : the afterparty)
Did you miss Part 1 or Part 2 of Val & Andy’s wedding? We already had their ceremony and luncheon reception so now it’s time to flip the room again and have an afterparty! The late-night event was my favorite part of the day because of all the beautiful and unique decor.
It will be painfully obvious which photos came from my iPhone and which ones were taken by professional photographer Andrew Segreti. Anything that looks dark, blurry, grainy, or significantly orange are my images. Ones that are bright, clean, and crisp are Andrew’s!
First, the biggest visual impact was the addition of lights strung across the columns. I love this effect and thought it really pulled the eye upwards. It also broke up the space a little so there was something besides white walls to look at:
We also put amber-colored gels in the existing lighting, creating a beautiful glow to the room:
This looks quite festive, doesn’t it?
Next, we put candles in all of the Mason jars that Val bought and lined the bottom of the giant picture windows. I wanted this look to be messy but organized…vintage in a modern space:
The reflection in the glass is a little confusing but you get the idea:
Another fun project was a customized Gobo light! We projected this fun Valentine-themed design onto an old-school New York water tower on the roof of a neighboring building. It was the perfect location and was in plain sight of the party. You can also see how pretty the view is from here:
Here’s a quick walk-around video I took before the party really got started:
The lounge area got a pop of color with paper pom-poms:
::the next two photos are Andrew’s::
Val brought some vintage board games to set around the room! Here are the Mast Brothers and one of their dates, playing a round of checkers:
Our food buffet got flipped into a ‘nachos, gourmet deli sandwiches, popcorn, desserts, and candy’ buffet! I really loved all the fun snack foods:
The nachos with their cute little paperboard cups:
We also had a New York-style hot dog cart from Party Rental Ltd:
Party Rental Ltd also provided us with this awesome popcorn machine:
::the next two photos are Andrew’s::
The popcorn machine came with these fantastic 1970s-inspired paper bags. At any other wedding they’d stick out like a sore thumb but at this party they fit just perfectly!
The oysters made a second appearance in the evening — these guys were popular:
OK, have you seen a cuter candy bar? Val found a bunch of different kinds of vintage-style candy at Economy Candy in Manhattan. We reused her vintage wooden crates and vintage toy airplanes as props:
::the remainder of the photographs are Andrew’s::
I’m so glad that Val & Andy decided to cut their groom’s cake during the afterparty! It was a fun impromptu moment although it was a shame to see such a cute cake get destroyed. That’s the sad part about edible art!
I included this photo for the sole purpose of showing off Val’s bright red satin shoes. How adorable is her cocktail dress and wavy updo? You might recognize the vintage tablecloth from their sweetheart table:
I think the best part about the afterparty was that everyone went back home or to the hotel and changed their outfits. Some folks got pretty creative!
Val & Andy have a bunch of good-looking friends. They partied hard all night:
Look how cute these two newlyweds are:
A fun time was had by all! Congratulations Val & Andy, I’m so glad you had a fabulous time at your wedding. I had a great time working with you!

Do you happen to know where Val got her gorgeous cocktail dress? My sister lives in San Diego (I’m in DC and was referred by @WishLaura) and wants a VERY casual wedding with yellow being the main color. This kind of dress is right up her alley (if I can get it dyed yellow!)
Thanks,
Lauren

Hi Lauren!
Val’s cocktail dress is BCBG. The website shows it in black but obviously they make it in that ivory color too: http://tinyurl.com/ylqr4ty. I also liked the following ones on their website that your sister might like:

Hope that helps!
